Routes and Times
With your Original Tour ticket, you have access to 6 bus tour routes around London. Three of these routes (Yellow, Red and Blue) are sightseeing tour routes and buses run at a 15-20 minute frequency. The Green Route is The Loop Line around central London. The Black and Purple Routes operate as a shuttle service and connect you with our sightseeing tours from the train stations and popular hotel districts of the capital. The information below is designed to help you plan your day out in London, but please do check our timetable for specific stop locations and route times.
All times are subject to change and if you have any questions on the day, please do ask the on-street team members as they will be happy to help.
The Yellow Route takes you around the main sights and attractions of London including the Tower of London, St Paul’s Cathedral, London Eye and Marble Arch. Crossing the river four times, you are guaranteed some spectacular views of London’s stunning scenery along the Thames.
The main departure point for this tour route is located at Coventry Street, Piccadilly Circus but you can board the bus at any stop along the route.
Summer Service (until 6 September 2016)
The first tour departs from Coventry Street at 8:30 AM, with buses operating every 5-15 minutes. The last full tour departs from Coventry Street at 8.00 PM. From 6:40 PM to the last departure, the bus departs every 20 minutes.
Autumn Service (7 September – 1 November 2016)
The first tour departs from Coventry Street at 8:30 AM, with buses operating every 10-15 minutes until the last full tour departs from Coventry Street at 6:00 PM.
Winter Service (2 November 2016 – 28 February 2017)
The first tour departs from Coventry Street at 8:30 AM, with buses operating every 15-30 minutes until the last full tour departs from Coventry Street at 4:00 PM (4:30 PM Friday to Sunday).
The Red Route offers multilingual commentary in 8 different languages (English, German, French, Spanish, Italian, Russian,Japanese, European Portuguese and Mandarin) as well as a unique Kids’ Club channel (in English) for our younger guests. With 35 conveniently located bus stops around London, sit back, relax and enjoy the sights as they pass you by – Hyde Park, the Houses of Parliament, The Shard and Madame Tussauds are all featured on this tour route.
The main departure point for this tour is located at Grosvenor Gardens, Victoria Train Station but you can board the bus at any Original Tour bus stop along the route.

With stops at the British Museum, Natural History Museum, Science Museum and Kensington Palace, the Blue Route (Museum Tour) helps you discover some of London’s best museums. If you would prefer, there is also a bus stop at Harrods; perhaps the world’s most famous department store.
The Blue Route offers multilingual commentary in 8 different languages (English, German, French, Spanish, Italian, Russian,Japanese, European Portuguese and Mandarin) as well as our unique Kids’ Club channel (in English) for our younger guests.
The main departure point for this tour is located outside the Royal National Hotel on Woburn Place, Russell Square but you can board the bus at any point along the route.
The first tour departs from Russell Square at 8:30 AM, with buses operating every 10-20 minutes (15-30 minutes in winter). The last full tour departs Russell Square at 4:30 PM.
If you are arriving into London from one of the major train stations the Black Route can take you to Marble Arch where you can join either the Red or Yellow sightseeing tour routes.
Operating on a 20-30 minute basis in the mornings and afternoons, the Station Connector route is ideal for those visiting for the day and arriving at one of the following stations.
Kings Cross St Pancras to Marble Arch: The first bus on the morning service departs St Pancras Station, Midland Road (stop ‘S’) at 10:07 AM, with buses departing every 20-30minutes until 12:07 PM. The afternoon service from Marble Arch to St Pancras commences at 3:23 PM with buses departing at a frequency of every 30 minutes. The last bus to depart Marble Arch for Kings Cross and St Pancras is at 5:53 PM.
Euston Station to Marble Arch:The first bus on the morning service departs Euston (coach stop CH on Euston Road)at 10.13 AM, with buses departing every 20-30 minutes until 12:13 PM. The afternoon service from Marble Arch to Euston commences at 3:23 PM with buses departing at a frequency of every 30 minutes. The last bus to depart Marble Arch for Euston is at 5:53 PM.
Paddington Station to Marble Arch:The first bus on the morning service departs Paddington at 9:45 AM, with buses departing every hour until 11:45 PM. (there are more frequent and more direct buses on the Purple route every morning) The afternoon service from Marble Arch to Paddington commences at 3:23 PM with buses departing at a frequency of every 30 minutes. The last bus to depart Marble Arch for Euston is at 5:53 PM.
Marylebone Station to Marble Arch:The first bus on the morning service departs Marylebone at 9:51 AM, with buses departing every hour until 11:51 PM. The afternoon service from Marble Arch to Marylebone commences at 3:23 PM with buses departing at a frequency of every 30 minutes. The last bus to depart Marble Arch for Paddington is at 5:53 PM.
The Purple Route is useful if you are staying in a hotel located in Bayswater, Notting Hill, Holland Park or Lancaster Gate or wish to go shopping at Westfield Shepherds Bush.
Operating in both eastbound and westbound directions, the Purple Route operates more frequently in an eastbound direction, enabling you to join either our Yellow or Red sightseeing routes at Marble Arch.
Eastbound (to Marble Arch)
The first bus departs Holland Park Avenue (Royal Crescent) at 8:10 AM, and then operates at a frequency of every 20-30 minutes until the last bus departs Holland Park Avenue at 5:05 PM.
Westbound (from Marble Arch)
The first bus departs Marble Arch (Cumberland Gate) at 11:38 AM and then operates at a frequency of every 30 minutes until the last bus at 6:38 PM.

Changing of the Guard
Experience the tradition and pageantry that is the Guard Change alongside St James's Palace and Buckingham Palace. In a ceremony that dates back centuries, march alongside the army regiments that guard the Queen and her palaces in this exciting walk.
Departs daily at 10:30 AM from The Original London Visitor Centre. On non-guard change days, walking tours visit Horseguards Parade for the changing of the Horseguard, before continuing on to Buckingham Palace and St James's Palace. Please note: Whilst we offer the walk daily, the Guard Change does not take place if it is raining.

Walk in the footsteps of the world's most infamous serial killer as we reveal his murderous acts on the dark streets of Whitechapel in 1888. Departs daily at 3:30 PM from The Original Tour bus stop at the Tower of London on Tower Hill. Please note: The Jack the Ripper walk will finish at Aldgate East tube station and not at one of our bus stops.
❸ Free Thames River Cruise
On arriving at the pier of your choice (Westminster or Tower Pier) go directly to the boat and present the pass to City Cruises staff. These passes are collected by the City Cruises staff on the first cruise journey. For subsequent journeys you will simply need to show a valid Original Tour bus ticket, thus enabling you to hop-on and hop-off the boats as you please as often as you like. The cruise timetable covers the cruise schedule.
The majority of cruises are operated using modern, wheelchair-accessible, all-weather boats with panoramic windows and open-air deck areas. Recorded commentary is generally available in English, French, German, Spanish, Mandarin and Japanese.

Answer: Yes! The standard tickets are valid for 24 hours. Your 24 hours begin when you first validate a ticket/ voucher with a member of staff at the bus stop. For example, if you validate at 11:00 AM Monday, tickets will then be valid for our bus tours, walking tours and on the river cruises until 11:00 AM Tuesday.

Answer: Yes, you are free to travel on all of the tour routes with just one ticket. They offer 3 main sightseeing tour routes and 3 train station connector services, all of which are included in your Original Tour ticket.
Question: Will we be able to hop-on and hop-off?
Answer: YES! Your tour tickets are completely unrestricted. You can travel on any of the red buses and change between the routes as many times as you like. Each route makes frequent stops - simply hop-off at any of our 80+ bus stops, then hop back on at the bus stop of your choice. Please see the departure points page for the locations of our clearly marked bus stops.
Question: Are there different languages available on your bus tours?
Answer: The Yellow Route provides commentaries in English. The Blue and Red Routes provide digitally-recorded commentary in English, German, French, Spanish, Italian, Russian, Japanese, Portuguese and Mandarin. They also offer a unique Kids’ Club commentary channel on our Red and Blue Routes. The guided walking tours offer English commentary. Your ticket is valid across all our routes, walking tours and on the river cruise.
Question: Can we take a Thames River Cruise?
Answer: Yes, a fantastic river cruise pass is included completely FREE with your tour ticket. The river cruise tickets are issued at the same time as your bus tickets and you may use them as many times as you like between Westminster and Tower Piers. The City Cruises river cruise staff will collect / tear off the river cruise portion of your ticket the first time you board their boats. To use the river cruise more than once simply show your valid Original Tour bus ticket each time you board. With our extended 48-hour tickets, the cruise pass is also extended – you can travel from Westminster Pier all the way to historic Greenwich and back.
Question: Can you tell me how long the tour takes?
Answer: The Red and Yellow tour routes take approximately 2 - 2.5 hours and the Blue tour route takes about 90 minutes, if you stay on-board for a full loop. Alternatively, you may hop on and off and re-join the tour at any Original Tour bus stop. Our buses run approximately every 15-20 minutes, and in the summer months the buses can be as frequent as every 5 minutes (on the Red and Yellow Routes).
Timings do sometimes vary depending on road conditions and events. The day of travel, their friendly Visitor Centre and on-street sales staff are available to help with the most up to date information.
Question: Are your buses wheelchair accessible?
Answer: Over 90% of our buses are wheelchair accessible. One 'reference wheelchair' (maximum dimensions 3'11” (L) X 2'4" (W) X 4'5"(H)) may be carried in the designated space, facing forwards, using the wheel clamps fitted. On the few remaining buses, the carriage of unfolded wheelchairs is not permitted. Folded wheelchairs may be carried, where space permits, in appropriate stowage areas. Although it is not necessary, they would recommend that customers who require wheelchair access go to either the Victoria (Grosvenor Gardens) or Piccadilly Circus (Coventry Street) start points as there are additional staff on hand should any further assistance be required.
Question: Can my Guide Dog accompany me on the tour?
Answer: Passengers travelling with a guide dog are welcome on-board our bus tours. We simply ask that they do not obstruct any walkway on the bus or distract our driver. Guide dogs are also permitted on the included river cruise (which is operated by City Cruises).
